Job Overview

Position Summary: The Shipping Coordinator is accountable for the procurement of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) products and overseeing the tool crib operations.


Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Preferred post-secondary diploma in relevant fields or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in technical and commercial purchasing, particularly in the automotive sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Exceptional time management and numerical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and organizational capabilities, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, along with outstanding customer service abilities.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001: 2015 standards.
  • Understanding of IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Awareness of specific customer requirements as applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the procurement of MRO materials and operational supplies.
  • Engage with vendors and suppliers to secure pricing, availability, and delivery timelines.
  • Facilitate timely delivery of goods to relevant departments.
  • Ensure adherence to 100% on-time delivery standards.
  • Contribute positively to quality assurance, customer satisfaction, and organizational profitability.
  • Solicit bid proposals and negotiate contracts and lease agreements within budgetary constraints and corporate guidelines.
  • Comply with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 protocols, as well as internal purchasing policies.
  • Address supplier issues with the Buyer and Materials Manager as necessary.
  • Resolve issues related to defective or unsatisfactory goods or services with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with underperforming suppliers to enhance performance or identify alternative suppliers.
  • Prepare purchase orders and quote requests, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided to vendors.
  • Present cost-saving initiatives to the Materials Manager.
  • Participate in CRMS projects and reports aimed at continuous improvement and profit enhancement.
  • Coordinate with all departments to ensure purchasing needs are met.
  • Actively engage in new programs or projects related to MRO plant products.
  • Supervise all personnel within the tool crib.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental Systems, and Human Resources guidelines.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Regular communication with employees, peers, and management.
  • Frequent interruptions and distractions.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
  • Work in a noisy environment.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Work may involve both office and plant floor settings.
  • Travel may be necessary.
