Job Title: Junior Buyer

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior Buyer to join our team. As a Junior Buyer, you will play a critical role in supporting the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and services for our Department of Defense (DoD) contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers to negotiate prices, delivery dates, and terms.
  • Manage the procurement process from requisition to execution of a Purchase Order, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal regulations.
  • Provide guidance and information to requesters on procurement actions, status, and special requirements.
  • Coordinate requisition requirements with requesters and ensure follow-up and administration of purchase orders and subcontract files.
  • Monitor performance to procurement goals and objectives, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Negotiate and settle disputes with suppliers related to poor performance, late deliveries, invoicing issues, and non-compliance with DI terms and conditions.
  • Provide pricing support for Business Development and proposal efforts as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and mentor Buyers and Associate Buyers.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field, and at least 2 years of experience in a buyer or procurement role.
  • Or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, and at least 3 years of experience in a buyer or procurement role.
  • Or an Associate's degree in Business Administration or a related field, and at least 7 years of experience in a buyer or procurement role.
  • Or a High school diploma/GED, and at least 11 years of experience in a buyer or procurement role.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of experience in subcontract administration in support of Department of Defense and/or U.S. Navy programs.
  • Knowledge working in Costpoint International customer experience and ability to understand requirements necessary to engage with foreign entities.
  • Prepared vendor lists.
  • Certification(s) in Procurement.
