As a comprehensive electric utility solutions engineering firm, City Light & Power, Inc. boasts over two decades of experience in the ownership, enhancement, maintenance, and operation of electrical utility systems.

The General Contractor/Assistant Project Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing construction projects from the initial planning stages through to scheduling, resource management, and project accounting, culminating in project completion. This position acts as a Coordinator and Liaison to ensure that project deliverables align with the defined scope and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of reports covering all project phases and financial outcomes.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, project teams, engineers, subcontractors, and field staff.
  • Support the Project Manager in formulating budgets, schedules, and construction service plans for various project components.
  • Travel to project sites to oversee activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in project meetings, including pre-award, pre-construction, progress updates, and final close-out discussions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to identify and allocate necessary resources, including personnel and materials.
  • Monitor project progress, tracking timelines and construction activities to ensure adherence to the schedule.
  • Engage in and oversee the procurement process, cost management, and change control systems.
  • Conduct field inspections to verify the quality and accuracy of construction work.
  • Uphold the company's core safety values and work with the EH&S Director to effectively communicate and enforce safety standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is highly preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute.
  • Two to four (2-4) years of experience in building construction, materials, systems, fieldwork, or similar roles is required.
  • Experience with federal government contracting or federal construction activities is advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting capabilities.
  • Organized and adept at problem-solving with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel between job sites 20-30% outside of Colorado.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Military Base Access Security Clearance will be required.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Benefits & Compensation:

  • We provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, a 401k plan with company contributions, paid time off, and paid holidays.
  • Salary range: $70,000-$85,000 annually based on experience, with eligibility for participation in the Short Term Incentive Plan.
  • We reserve the right to adjust compensation based on factors unrelated to sex.
