Experienced Ophthalmic Technician with Retina Focus

Ramin Tayami MD Inc is in search of a proficient and enthusiastic Ophthalmic Technician with a strong background in retina care to enhance our flourishing ophthalmology practice in Southern California. We offer both full-time and part-time opportunities for Back Office Ophthalmic Technicians.

Our practice encompasses a wide range of services including ophthalmology, optometry, optical, and plastic surgery. We pride ourselves on being a high-volume, fast-paced environment that provides competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Ophthalmic Technician Duties:

1. Equip physicians and their clinics with all necessary tools and supplies to ensure smooth clinic operations.

2. Organize examination rooms before and after each clinic session.

3. Manage eye drop samples and liaise with representatives under the guidance of the Back Office Supervisor.

4. Address and assist patients' inquiries both in-person and via phone.

5. Process prescription refills.

6. Secure authorizations for in-office procedures and specialist referrals as required.

7. Conduct essential tests including Visual Fields, OCT, Fundus Photos, Pachymetry, and Topography.

8. Perform routine calibration of equipment as directed by the manufacturer.

9. Administer ILUX treatments for dry eye conditions.

10. Maintain accurate documentation and proficient use of NextGen software.

11. Facilitate patient information transfer to the Patient Portal.

12. Travel to satellite offices as needed.

13. Assist the Back Office Supervisor with ordering supplies and managing inventory.

14. Organize and catalog photographs within NextGen.

15. Support patient workups and assist physicians as required.

16. Provide training for new hires and students.

17. Stock supplies at satellite locations.

18. Ensure cleanliness and proper handling of back office equipment.

19. Schedule external testing such as retinal evaluations, CT scans, and MRIs for physician review.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in various administrative tasks as needed.
  2. Assist with front office duties and patient scheduling when required.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of back office experience in ophthalmology.
  • Experience working alongside a retina specialist is preferred.
  • Certification as COA, COT, or COMT is advantageous.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with NextGen software is a plus.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Management or leadership experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Availability to work two Saturdays each month.

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, and a profit-sharing plan.


Compensation: Hourly wage ranges from 20 to 26.
