Our facility provides a comprehensive range of services including ophthalmology, optometry, optical, and plastic surgery. We pride ourselves on being a high-volume, fast-paced practice that offers competitive remuneration and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Ophthalmic Technician Duties:

  1. Ensure physicians have all necessary equipment and supplies for efficient clinic operations.
  2. Maintain organization of exam rooms before and after patient sessions.
  3. Manage eye drop samples and liaise with representatives under the guidance of the Back Office Supervisor.
  4. Address patient inquiries both in-person and via phone.
  5. Handle prescription refills.
  6. Secure authorizations for in-office procedures and specialist referrals when applicable.
  7. Conduct essential tests such as Visual Fields, OCT, Fundus Photos, Pachymetry, and Topography.
  8. Calibrate equipment as per manufacturer guidelines on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  9. Administer ILUX treatments for dry eye conditions.
  10. Document patient information accurately in NextGen.
  11. Facilitate patient information transfer to the Patient Portal.
  12. Travel to satellite offices as required.
  13. Assist the Back Office Supervisor in ordering and managing inventory of supplies.
  14. Organize and catalog photos within NextGen.
  15. Support patient workups and assist physicians as needed.
  16. Train new staff and students.
  17. Stock supplies at satellite locations.
  18. Maintain and clean back office equipment.
  19. Coordinate external testing such as retinal evaluations, CT scans, and MRIs for physician review.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in various administrative tasks as needed.
  2. Assist with front office duties and patient scheduling when required.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of back office experience in ophthalmology.
  • Experience working alongside a retina specialist is preferred.
  • COA, COT, or COMT certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiarity with NextGen is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Leadership experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Availability to work two Saturdays each month.

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance (medical, dental, vision), paid time off, and a profit-sharing plan.

Compensation: Hourly wage ranges from 20 to 26.
