Our practice delivers a comprehensive range of services, including ophthalmology, optometry, optical, and plastic surgery. We pride ourselves on being a high-volume, fast-paced environment that provides competitive compensation and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Ophthalmic Technician Duties:

1. Ensure physicians have all necessary equipment and supplies for efficient clinic operations.

2. Maintain organization of exam rooms before and after patient sessions.

3. Manage eye drop samples and liaise with representatives under the supervision of the Back Office Supervisor.

4. Address patient inquiries both in-person and via phone.

5. Process prescription refills.

6. Obtain authorizations for in-office procedures and specialist referrals when applicable.

7. Conduct essential testing, including Visual Fields, OCT, Fundus Photos, Pachymetry, and Topography.

8. Perform regular calibration of equipment as per manufacturer guidelines.

9. Administer ILUX treatments for dry eye conditions.

10. Document patient information accurately in NextGen.

11. Facilitate patient information transfer to the Patient Portal.

12. Travel to satellite offices as needed.

13. Assist the Back Office Supervisor with inventory management and supply orders.

14. Organize and catalog photos within NextGen.

15. Support patient workups and assist physicians as required.

16. Train new staff and students.

17. Stock supplies at satellite locations.

18. Maintain cleanliness and functionality of back office equipment.

19. Schedule external testing, including retinal evaluations and imaging for physician review.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in various administrative tasks as needed.
  2. Assist with front office duties and patient scheduling when required.

Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of back office experience in ophthalmology.
  • Experience with a retina specialist is preferred.
  • COA, COT, or COMT certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with NextGen is advantageous.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Leadership experience is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Availability to work two Saturdays per month.

Compensation: Hourly wage ranges from 20 to 26.
