Modem and RF System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Modem and RF System Engineer to join our team of innovators at Apple. As a key member of our system engineering team, you will be responsible for collaborating across RF and modem teams to develop and bring up modem systems features and requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with RF and modem teams to develop and bring up modem systems features and requirements.
  • Develop and implement RF models for link-level simulations, analyze and characterize the results, and provide mitigation and optimization guidelines.
  • Design and develop automatic gain control (AGC) algorithms and models for LTE/NR.
  • Work with the team to develop and implement digital RF-front design and analog and digital beam forming techniques.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of cellular communication standards, including 5GNR FR1/FR2, 4G LTE, 3G (HSPA), and 2G GSM.
Requirements:
  • Deep knowledge of communication system theory and signal processing.
  • Experience with RF systems, RF impairment modeling and mitigation techniques, and digital RF-front design.
  • Knowledge of cellular communication standards, including 5GNR FR1/FR2, 4G LTE, 3G (HSPA), and 2G GSM.
  • Experience with automatic gain control (AGC) for LTE/NR.
  • Experience with analog and digital beam forming techniques and MIMO systems.
  • Fluent in Matlab, C/C++, and/or Python for algorithm development, modeling, and link-level simulation.
  • Strong analytical skills, including linear algebra, random processes, detection, and estimation.
  • Experience in chip bring-up, including the use of lab equipment such as protocol test equipment, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, etc.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
