Respiratory Therapist Lead

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist Lead to join our team in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in respiratory care and leadership skills to manage a team of respiratory therapists.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with leadership to plan and manage operations, ensuring patient safety, quality outcomes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to support site and/or organizational goals.
- Oversee respiratory therapists' day-to-day operations and act as a clinical resource.
- Assess patient needs and develop plans to address them, utilizing skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlates blood gases and electrolytes.
- Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues and assist physicians with bedside procedures as needed.
- Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols (PDRPs) as prescribed.
- Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshoot as necessary, and identify the need for service and/or repair.
- Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management, facilitating clinical problem solving and collaborating with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
- Under physician direction, adapt and comply with policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks and/or special duties as required by assignment, and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
- Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills, promoting a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm, reporting patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner, and seeking to identify potential safety issues and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in Respiratory Care.
