Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist Lead to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Respiratory Therapist Lead, you will play a critical role in the planning and management of operations to ensure patient safety, quality outcomes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan and manage operations, ensuring patient safety and quality outcomes.
  • Oversee respiratory therapists' day-to-day operations and act as a clinical resource.
  • Act as a resource for respiratory therapy processes, supporting assessment of patients using various skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlates blood gases and electrolytes.
  • Identify and address special needs of patient populations specific to department services.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues.
  • Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols (PDRPs) as prescribed.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment.
  • Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management.
  • Facilitate clinical problem-solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
Requirements:
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in Respiratory Care.
