Role Responsibilities:

  • Design, construct, and install upholstery and trim components for aircraft interiors. Support the Shop Lead in managing projects and mentoring junior technicians.
  • Fabricate and fit seat covers, curtains, and various assemblies within aircraft interiors.
  • Interpret material specifications and engineering drawings to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Sew, fabricate, and install coverings for aircraft panels, adhering to safety, quality, and productivity benchmarks.
  • Utilize the material tracking system (Corridor) to manage parts requirements, track issues, and approve completed work.
  • Cut and install custom carpets based on detailed design specifications.
  • Assume leadership duties as required; oversee projects and assign tasks.
  • Conduct and assist with safety audits.
  • Maintain shop equipment and associated job safety analyses (JSAs).
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, 5S standards, and housekeeping practices, while safeguarding aircraft interiors.
  • Guide and train less experienced technicians, promoting safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Collaborate on process enhancements to minimize costs and cycle times using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 4 years of upholstery experience, including 2 years in aircraft upholstery or 6 years in commercial upholstery.
  • Advanced understanding of upholstery and sewing techniques; experience with custom carpets is preferred.
  • Familiarity with company inspection and process standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work various shifts.
