Finance Manager

Kara, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing bereavement support, is seeking a highly skilled Finance & Operations Manager to join their team. This key role will play a crucial part in strengthening the organization's infrastructure and ensuring the effective use of their $2 million budget.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and operations, with experience in managing complex systems and driving efficiency. They will be responsible for overseeing all financial and operational aspects, including accounting, finances, IT, and business infrastructure. This will involve developing and monitoring annual operating budgets, managing accounting functions, and contributing to the continuous improvement of internal controls and financial policies.
The Finance & Operations Manager will also be responsible for managing relationships with outside consultants and vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost-effective solutions. They will work closely with the Executive Director and Development Director to support agency-wide service and fundraising events, as well as provide support for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of nonprofit management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and monitor annual operating budgets and financial plans
- Manage all accounting functions, including A/P, A/R, analysis, and reporting
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal controls and financial policies
- Manage relationships with outside consultants and vendors
- Support agency-wide service and fundraising events
- Provide support for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Nonprofit Administration, Accounting, or a related field
- 5-7 years of nonprofit management experience, particularly in human services
- Proven operations, budget, and financial systems management experience
- Strong accounting, finance, and analytical skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- High proficiency in operations, information systems, and accounting productivity software

We provide comprehensive bereavement support, grief education, and crisis response to individuals and communities facing the difficult realities of death and dying. Our services include individual and group peer support, in-house psychotherapy, on-site crisis intervention, bereavement education and training services, Camp Kara, and community events.
