About the Role

The State of Vermont is seeking a skilled Military Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Camp Johnson in Colchester. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing maintenance work across multiple trades, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and heating.

You will also be responsible for maintaining the grounds, roads, and training areas, including snow removal in the winter months. Additionally, you may be required to operate heavy equipment, such as loaders, excavators, dozers, and heavy trucks equipped with plows and wings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance work across multiple trades, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and heating.
  • Maintain the grounds, roads, and training areas, including snow removal in the winter months.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as loaders, excavators, dozers, and heavy trucks equipped with plows and wings.
  • Perform tasks in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of experience in building construction, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Or one or more years of experience as a Military Maintenance Specialist I.
Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years of work experience in building construction or maintenance, or a related field, is highly desirable. Additionally, experience working on a military installation and possession of a CDL license are also preferred.
