Job Summary

As a key member of our culinary team, the Sous Chef at The Talbott Hotel will work closely with the Executive Chef to plan and direct food preparation in our kitchens. This management-level position requires the ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and direct food preparation in our kitchens, ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are able to perform their duties effectively.
  • Organize and manage kitchen inventory, including ordering supplies and managing budgets.
  • Develop and implement menus that reflect the restaurant's overall vision and appeal to our discerning guests.
  • Ensure that all kitchen operations are carried out quickly and effectively, with a focus on efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety and sanitation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or other members of the management team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as culinary arts or hospitality management.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and supervise kitchen staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
