POSITION: Judicial Assistant

ROLE SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Court Administrator, the Judicial Assistant performs a range of intricate clerical tasks aimed at supporting the Judge(s) in facilitating court procedures efficiently. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, the reception and processing of traffic violations, criminal charges, small claims, and associated judgments or warrants.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

A High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory, alongside a minimum of two (2) years of verifiable experience in office administration or a closely related field; OR a suitable combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in computer applications, including Excel, Word, and email platforms, is required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Utah Driver License in accordance with applicable vehicle policies.

Willingness and ability to attend training sessions outside of the local area as scheduled is essential.

Must be capable of obtaining security clearance for access to various mandated State Computer Systems (e.g., BCI, NLETS, NCIC, etc.).

Knowledge and Skills Required

Working knowledge of the functions of the court clerk; familiarity with legal terminology relevant to various court processes and documentation; understanding of standard office practices and procedures related to filing and record management; Awareness of courtroom protocols and procedures; Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; maintain professional and courteous relationships with elected officials, professionals, supervisors, colleagues, and the public; operate various office equipment and machinery; manage workload and time pressures; uphold confidentiality regarding sensitive information; Proficient in interpersonal communication.
