About the Role:

This Medical Assistant position is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Banner Health, providing exceptional patient care and support in our Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient experiences, working closely with our clinicians and nursing staff to provide medical care and implement direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare patients for exams and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements, and documenting chief complaints.
  2. Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including taking patients' blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, taking temperature, and performing phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs.
  3. Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital, and other ancillary medical treatments and tests.
  4. Provide clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation, including complete medical records, lab results, authorizations, X-rays, hospital records, and previous care pertaining to each patient visit.
  5. Maintain a clean, functional environment, including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas.

Requirements:

  • National certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or willingness to become certified within 12 months of employment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, prioritizing patient flow and providing excellent customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Basic maintenance of equipment and coordination of needed maintenance for prompt repairs.

Work Environment:

This position is located at Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, with occasional travel to other locations. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care and support.
