Job Summary:

Carpenter Foreman at M. A. Mortenson is responsible for overseeing the construction of buildings and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and construction management, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine blueprints to determine dimensions of structure and lay out floor-plan and cabinetwork using tape, framing square, and calipers.
• Select materials and structural units, such as lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets of wood or plastic, paneling, and inspect them to ensure conformance with provisions of building code and local ordinance.
• Determine sequence of activities concerned with fabrication, assembly, and erection of structure and assign workers to tasks such as cutting material to size, building concrete forms, erecting wooden framework, and laying flooring.
• Inspect work performed by subcontractors, including ductwork, wiring, and pipe installations, to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Install doors, build stairs, and lay hardwood floors.
• Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect all pre-fabricated materials.

Requirements:

• Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
• Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams.
• Some ability to read plans.
• Strong teamwork orientation and positive attitude.
• Professional customer service skills and detail orientation.
• Active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working on construction sites, which can be physically demanding and may involve exposure to hazardous materials and equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
