Telecommunications Construction Specialist

As a Directional Drill Operator, you will be responsible for safely and effectively operating drill equipment and other construction machinery to install, repair, and maintain underground telecommunications utilities. Job Responsibilities
As a Directional Drill Operator, your primary duties will include operating drill equipment and other construction machinery to install, repair, and maintain underground telecommunications utilities. You will also be responsible for restoring and landscaping disturbed areas of the job site, developing and maintaining a bore schedule, and digging pits, trenches, and potholes as directed by the job plan. Additionally, you will be responsible for site setup and cleanup, loading and unloading tools, materials, and equipment, and setting up safety perimeters using signage, cones, and safety barriers. You will also be involved in new site Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) prior to starting construction.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience with Directional Drill equipment and understand their capabilities and limitations. You will also need to have experience with drill setup and design processes, as well as the ability to follow instructions and use small tools. You will need to have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record, and an Unrestricted Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement is strongly preferred. You will also need to have good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, be very safety-conscious, and be able to effectively communicate with crew, customers, and vendors. May be required to work overtime, travel, and have previous utility construction experience.
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to climb into and out of equipment, lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed, and stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding, or stooping while on shift. Remote work may be required, and long driving and sitting will be required in these instances. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed.
