Job Summary

As a Pharmacist Local Specialty at Walgreens, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department and ensuring the highest level of customer service. This includes managing workflow, clinical management of patients, continuous quality improvement, adherence to policy and procedure, compliance with internal and external regulatory bodies, pharmacy sales, expense control, and inventory management.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Experience
  • Ensure department personnel provide hospitable service and information to customers.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints, maintaining and improving the overall image of the pharmacy department.
Operations
  • Manage the daily operation of the pharmacy department, improving prescription numbers, pharmacy sales, profit, and image through accurate filling of prescriptions and providing courteous and efficient service to customers.
  • Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures relating to prescription incidents and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations and Company policies governing all drugs and products, maintaining required records, documentation, and reports.
Asset Protection
  • Recommend and implement asset protection controls and procedures to identify and minimize profit loss.
People and Performance Management
  • Supervise pharmacy department team members to ensure performance of required functions and adherence to Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper licensure of all pharmacy department personnel and confirm pharmacy department employees are trained on all required functions regarding payer and pharmaceutical contractual requirements.
Training and Personal Development
  • Audit own performance and recommend own objectives and standards of performance.
  • Maintain an awareness of developments in the pharmacy, health care, and retail management fields that relate to job responsibilities and integrate them into own practices.
