About the Role:

Position Overview

Facilitates safe patient care by executing tasks as directed by licensed personnel and supervisors. Engages with patient demographics ranging from neonates to the elderly. The employee performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with population-specific protocols and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as defined in organizational policies and procedures.

Core Responsibilities
  • Execute assigned tasks within Perioperative Services. Transport patients. Show a fundamental understanding of sterile techniques related to assisting with sterile preparation procedures. Aid in the positioning of patients under the guidance of licensed staff. Prepare operating room tables, casting equipment, etc., following established protocols. Remain readily available to support patient care teams as required. Regularly check in with the RN in assigned operating rooms or charge nurse to ensure necessary resources are accessible. Consistently communicate break/lunch coverage to the RN or charge nurse. Document contact numbers on the whiteboard for each assigned room. Facilitate rapid turnover by thoroughly cleaning the room and disposing of soiled instruments, trash, and linens according to established cleaning standards. Report and label malfunctioning or broken equipment and remove it from service to the appropriate repair area. Thoroughly prepare assigned operating rooms with the necessary equipment for individual patients to ensure safe and efficient care. Deliver specimens to the laboratory as needed and accurately record information in the specimen log.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in accordance with policies and protocols. Clean the casting cart after each use. Assist with the cleaning of storage areas and maintain equipment cleanliness and organization. Participate in the regular cleaning schedule of equipment. Remove trash and linens from designated areas. Restock supplies in operating rooms, warmers, scrub sinks, and locker rooms. Order linens daily. Ensure an adequate supply of formalin and containers.
