This is a full-time position with a schedule of 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including on-call duties. The role requires a commitment to 4x10 hour shifts and participation in a weekend and holiday rotation.
General SummaryUnder the supervision of the Vice President of Perioperative Services and the OR Clinical Coordinator, the Certified Surgical Technologist will assist in facilitating safe and effective surgical, invasive, and diagnostic procedures. This role is essential in ensuring that the surgical team has the necessary supplies, functioning equipment, and instruments to maintain patient safety.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver patient-centered care to individuals of all ages undergoing surgical procedures.
- Ensure that all necessary supplies and instruments are readily available to minimize delays.
- Act as a resource for other surgical personnel, including RNs and students.
- Communicate effectively with the Specialty Service Leader regarding any changes in required supplies or equipment.
The Certified Surgical Technologist is expected to maintain current knowledge of AORN Standards and Recommended Practices, actively participate in staff meetings, and engage in educational opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Onboarding ProcessAll candidates must successfully complete a background check and a pre-employment health screening, which includes a drug test.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program is required.
- CST certification is mandatory.
- NBSTSA certification is required.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association is necessary.
- Ability to respond to the hospital within 30 minutes when on-call.
- Cardiac experience is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a surgical technologist is required.
