Job Overview

The Chief Legal Officer is pivotal in managing legal and compliance issues within the organization. This role involves supporting the General Counsel in various legal and risk management functions while also overseeing ethics complaints and arbitration processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Management:

  • Assist the General Counsel in overseeing legal matters for MIBOR and MSC.
  • Ensure the accuracy and currency of governing documents, including Articles of Incorporation and bylaws.
  • Conduct legal research, prepare briefs, and monitor litigation while responding to subpoenas and discovery requests.
  • Review contracts and agreements in collaboration with the General Counsel.
  • Support the Risk Reduction Committee with all related legal matters.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the General Counsel, including file management, scheduling, and project tracking.
  • Coordinate the ethics complaint and arbitration processes, serving as a liaison to the Professional Standards Committee.
  • Organize hearing panels and communicate relevant procedures for ethics and arbitration hearings.
  • Manage the processing of ethics complaints and arbitration requests, ensuring effective communication with all parties involved.
  • Attend hearings and draft decisions for review by the General Counsel.
  • Facilitate post-hearing communications, including the distribution of written decisions.
  • Research industry trends and prepare articles for publication to enhance understanding of ethical practices.
  • Contribute to training and professional development initiatives across departments.
