Job Summary

The City of Spring Hill Tennessee is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Inflow and Infiltration Crew Leader to join our team. As a key member of our Sewer Collection department, you will be responsible for leading a crew in the location, installation, maintenance, calibration, collection, and interpretation of data from sanitary sewer flow monitors, rain gauges, pressure recorders, and other related equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze sanitary sewer flows to identify and abate inflow and infiltration, reducing the amount of wastewater to be treated.
  • Determine data collection needs and locate flow monitoring equipment and rain gauges, ensuring accurate and reliable data.
  • Coordinate with property owners to place rain gauges, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Collect, interpret, and maintain recorded data from flow monitors, rain gauges, and pressure recorders, providing valuable insights for infrastructure improvement.
  • Repair, calibrate, and maintain electronic flow monitors and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Assemble flow charts and graphs to present I & I abatement and sanitary sewer system improvement needs, effectively communicating complex data to stakeholders.
  • Accompany and assist contractors, consultants, and field crews in studying the City's sewer infrastructure, promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Inspect aerial sanitary sewer crossings regularly and after rain events, ensuring the integrity and safety of the system.
  • Inspect work performed by contractors and consultants, ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
  • Respond to questions from the public and City staff, providing accurate and helpful information.
  • Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and regulations.
  • Perform dye tests and work with property owners to correct illegal connections to the City's sanitary sewer system, promoting a safe and compliant environment.
  • Coordinate with field crews to maintain a tight sanitary sewer system, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Supervise and direct a crew in tasks associated with inflow and infiltration, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Perform tasks while wearing personal protective equipment, prioritizing safety and well-being.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and the public, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • TNDL (Tennessee Department of Labor) certification required.
  • 2 or more years of supervisor experience required.
  • Sewer Collection licensure required.
