Job Opportunity Overview

The City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Planning Division as an intern. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience in project planning, development, and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing various specifications, designs, reports, charts, maps, site plans, spreadsheets, presentations, and other documentation related to development of long and short-term projects.
  • Research available resources, collect data, and analyze facts to assist with completing planning and project assignments.
  • Assist with preparing master plans, conceptual plans, reports/correspondences, and other documentation to provide planning support for facilities, projects, and assignments. Perform routine office tasks.
  • Research, establish, identify, and enforce property boundaries and easements.
  • Assist staff, other departments, community organizations, and the general public with general facility planning tasks.
  • Assist with documenting and inventory of historical and other pertinent data and reporting related to Department resources, projects, properties, leases, facilities, and open spaces.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires college-level coursework in planning, project management.
  • Must be a college student in good academic standing or a recent college graduate (i.e., within one year of graduation).
