Job Title: Direct Support Technician

This is an exciting opportunity to join the City of Chesapeake team as a Direct Support Technician. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities, physical and sensory impairments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals served by assisting with self-care, communication, mobility, and personal living skills.
  • Connect and integrate clients within the community by accessing various community resources and opportunities for socialization and recreation.
  • Implement training programs in areas such as communication, self-care, independent living, self-management, and socialization/recreation.
  • Access community resources, such as community centers, volunteer opportunities, parks, malls, restaurants, museums, etc.
  • Provide assistance with personal care and hygiene, meal preparation, and eating/drinking as needed. Perform tasks involving cleanliness and maintenance of a safe and healthy living environment.
  • Complete progress/case notes, daily logs, and other program or agency forms as needed.
