Job Opportunity

The City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support the Park Rangers in providing exceptional customer service, managing park operations, and delivering engaging programs and activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service to park visitors and respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with the facilitation of various programs, camps, and activities, including setup and breakdown of equipment and supplies.
  • Support daily facility operations, including concessions, campground, rentals, and store management.
  • Organize and manage recreation equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good condition and readily available for use.
  • Perform general custodial and grounds maintenance tasks, including setup and breakdown of recreation equipment, tables, chairs, pop-up tents, barricades, and fencing.
  • Participate in programs, activities, and events with diverse groups, promoting a positive and inclusive experience for all.
  • Assist with logistical operations for special events and activities, ensuring smooth execution and minimal disruptions.
  • Process point of sale transactions and reconcile collected funds, maintaining accurate records and ensuring financial integrity.
  • May prepare and sell food items, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Support Park Rangers with visitor management and enforcement of park rules and regulations, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all.
Requirements:
  • Must be a college student in good academic standing or a recent college graduate (within one year of graduation).
  • Requires a valid driver's license with a driving record that complies with the City's policies.
  • College-level education in a related field, such as park management, wildlife management, natural sciences, forestry, business, marketing, management, recreation, tourism, or leisure services.
