About the Role

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team in Reston, Virginia.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor, the successful candidate will perform a variety of MRI procedures and departmental support functions. This includes conducting MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine, and extremities on patients of all ages, adjusting scanning parameters for different patient body habitus, and selecting and modifying technical factors to enhance images.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI examinations using various scanning techniques, including Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, and reformats.
  • Identify gross pathology in the human body and adjust T1 and T2 scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for interpretation.
  • Effectively use magnetic resonance and adjust parameters to minimize exposure to patients and self.
  • Follow established protocols and use scanning techniques to include window and contrast levels, scanning time sequences, scanning delays, scanning thickness, FOV, scout images, reformatting, image reconstruct, and 3-D image reconstruct.
  • Photograph, archive, and retrieve images.
  • Identify and respond to IV contrast reactions, including calling emergency personnel.
  • Perform comprehensive screening of patients and other individuals before allowing them to enter the MR system room.
  • Explain the dangers associated with implants and devices, including pacemakers and loose objects, to individuals entering the MR system room.
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy and present completed examinations to radiologists.
  • Maintain daily patient MRI logs, documenting patient information to ensure quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Minimum one year of experience as an MRI technologist, or registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI Accredited Certificate Program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
