Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at St. Joseph's Hospital. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering quality, accessible healthcare with compassion and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Implement, support, and maintain the mission of St. Joseph's Physicians
- Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician or other healthcare provider
- Organize and maintain patient medical records and equipment
- Accurately and legibly document information within patient medical records
- Conduct pre-visit planning, review recent test results, and anticipate necessary services
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment, escort them to the exam room, and interview them to record medical history
- Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, and execute follow-up tasks
- Assist with scheduling tests and treatment, pre-certify patients for hospital care, and process referrals to other providers
- Follow provider orders to schedule referrals, diagnostic tests, lab tests, appointments, etc.
- Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms, treatment rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment
- Maintain a safe, clean, and neat environment
- Responsible for successful and timely completion of work
- Readily assist others upon completion of assigned duties
- Demonstrate ability to manage priorities and balance workload
- Demonstrate competency in computer data entry
- Arrive in the designated work area at the assigned time in appropriate attire prepared to work
- Demonstrate adaptability and accept change in a positive manner
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- At least 1 year work and/or clinical training experience in the healthcare field
- Holds National Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA)
- Proficient in obtaining manual vital signs
- Experience using an electronic health record system
- Commitment to confidentiality and respect
- Ability to obtain and record patient data, including prior health history, family history, allergies, current medications, current complaints, and health screening questionnaires
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology
- Experience assisting physicians, nurses, or other healthcare providers in performing clinical tasks and procedures
- Ability to provide patients with information related to their health and wellness
Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
Pay Range$26.85 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education.
