Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at St. Joseph's Hospital. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering quality, accessible healthcare with compassion and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, support, and maintain the mission of St. Joseph's Physicians
  • Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician or other healthcare provider
  • Organize and maintain patient medical records and equipment
  • Accurately and legibly document information within patient medical records
  • Conduct pre-visit planning, review recent test results, and anticipate necessary services
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment, escort them to the exam room, and interview them to record medical history
  • Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, and execute follow-up tasks
  • Assist with scheduling tests and treatment, pre-certify patients for hospital care, and process referrals to other providers
  • Follow provider orders to schedule referrals, diagnostic tests, lab tests, appointments, etc.
  • Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms, treatment rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and neat environment
  • Responsible for successful and timely completion of work
  • Readily assist others upon completion of assigned duties
  • Demonstrate ability to manage priorities and balance workload
  • Demonstrate competency in computer data entry
  • Arrive in the designated work area at the assigned time in appropriate attire prepared to work
  • Demonstrate adaptability and accept change in a positive manner
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • At least 1 year work and/or clinical training experience in the healthcare field
  • Holds National Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA)
  • Proficient in obtaining manual vital signs
  • Experience using an electronic health record system
  • Commitment to confidentiality and respect
  • Ability to obtain and record patient data, including prior health history, family history, allergies, current medications, current complaints, and health screening questionnaires
  • Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology
  • Experience assisting physicians, nurses, or other healthcare providers in performing clinical tasks and procedures
  • Ability to provide patients with information related to their health and wellness
Work Environment and Hazards

Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.

Pay Range

$26.85 per hour, based on experience, skills, and education.
