Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, and oversight of inventory management and accounting functions within the designated facility. This role includes reporting operational outcomes and spearheading the budgeting and financial analysis processes for the plant.
- Direct all cost accounting operations for the facility, ensuring the maintenance of precise financial records and robust internal control systems.
- Manage standard cost calculations while collaborating with plant personnel to guarantee accurate bill of materials (BOM) and routing maintenance.
- Conduct thorough analyses and evaluations of BOMs for precision and validity.
- Assess all engineering modifications for their effects on BOM, material costs, and profit margins.
- Assist in generating monthly and periodic financial analyses, including variance assessments and management reporting.
- Enhance the financial performance of the plant by analyzing actual results against forecasts, identifying trends, and recommending profitable strategies.
- Execute specific month-end closing activities related to inventory and cost management.
- Support general accounting tasks for the business unit, including balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, monthly financial reporting, and necessary journal entries.
- Provide regular analytical insights and schedules to plant management and other departments.
- Aid in the preparation of detailed monthly inventory reserve reports and collaborate with plant leadership to ensure the accuracy of inventory reporting.
- Prepare cost and projection analyses for new business ventures and existing client relationships, including pricing strategies for new projects and maintaining pricing for ongoing business.
- Take a proactive role in planning, executing, and documenting inventory counts and controls alongside the plant's operational leadership.
- Collaborate with IT to ensure the provision of accurate and timely business data.
- Undertake special projects to support various Operational Excellence initiatives aimed at controlling costs, enhancing profitability, and improving cash flow and efficiency within the plant.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance or manufacturing operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong team-oriented approach.
- Experience with Plex ERP is preferred.
