Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Community Services Coordinator to join our team in Charlotte County, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and directing assigned activities, programs, and special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate historical and recreation programs, activities, and events, including creating schedules, soliciting sponsors, and managing facility event calendars.
  • Maintain existing programs by managing stock of program materials, training volunteers, and administering financial aspects of operations.
  • Develop and deliver programming with community partners, build relationships with area schools, library, and County staff, and identify new opportunities for programming partners.
  • Perform public relations duties, including making presentations, conducting interviews, creating flyers and brochures, and updating department website and social media accounts.
  • Assist in the maintenance of collections and exhibits, including developing and fabricating historical exhibits, conducting research, and maintaining related documentation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including receiving and responding to questions from the general public, and providing information and answers.
  • Maintain inventory of department supplies and equipment, including purchasing office and archival supplies, and reconciling purchasing card statements.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in historic preservation, cultural education, physical education, recreation, athletics, or a related field.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and monitoring small-scale social and leisure activities, and/or planning, developing, promoting, and producing large, profit-making events.
  • Knowledge of event management, including marketing, operations, safety, budget, box-office operations, and financial reporting.
  • Supervisory experience in recruiting volunteer seasonal staff and building teamwork to produce large events.
Work Environment

The work environment is relatively safe and secure, with occasional exposure to temperamental changes, extreme noise, odors, heights, and/or dust.
