Position Overview
As a Lead Metallurgical Process Engineer at POLYFIL CORPORATION, you will serve as a key authority in the seamless tube production sector, driving ongoing enhancement initiatives throughout all manufacturing operations.

Your Responsibilities
You will be tasked with mastering critical processes such as tube reduction (pilger), tooling design for pilger operations, finishing techniques for tubes, and vacuum annealing procedures. Your role will include:

  • Defining tube reduction sequences.
  • Designing tooling for tube reduction (pilger) operations.
  • Overseeing process control for both mechanical and chemical surface finishing.
  • Managing process control for vacuum annealing.
  • Establishing and upholding manufacturing route steps.
  • Assessing the effects of process or equipment modifications.
  • Creating and/or updating manufacturing documentation.
  • Documenting findings and recommendations through comprehensive reports.
  • Assisting sales teams in evaluating manufacturability.
  • Contributing to risk assessments and failure investigations.
  • Staying informed on industry standards relevant to precision tube production.

About You
We seek a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related field, along with relevant manufacturing experience. You should be capable of working autonomously or collaboratively within a team. A commitment to enhancing your knowledge of the fundamental principles governing the processes and products you support is essential. A Master’s degree in a related field is advantageous.

Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience.
  • Experience in metal forming techniques.
  • Proven knowledge in metallurgy and material science.
  • Experience in environments focused on process change control.
  • Expertise in failure analysis and reporting.
  • A strong commitment to safety as a fundamental principle.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods, including SPC, regression analysis, and hypothesis testing.
  • A data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • A desire for continuous learning and proficiency in industry and company methodologies.
