We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineering Technician or Engineering Technician to join our team at the City of Lynnwood, WA.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide technical support services to the capital projects construction management group's office and field activities. This includes coordinating with Project Managers, consultants, contractors, and other agencies on construction management and administration. The position will also provide plan review and on-site inspection on a wide variety of capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and coordinate the work during construction and maintenance projects for public works, franchise utilities, and other City Property.
  • Perform inspection and plan review of public works, franchise utilities, and other City Property.
  • Inspect construction practices and materials to ensure conformance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Read, understand, interpret, and analyze engineering plans, specifications, drawings, reports, and other technical documents.
  • Perform administration, record keeping, and reporting for assigned programs and/or projects.
  • Respond to complaints and concerns and provide technical assistance to the public, developers, contractors, engineers, and businesses regarding areas of expertise.
  • Collect, analyze, input, report, and map various types of data.
  • Coordinate with and provide data to Project Managers, consultants, contractors, and other agencies on design development, construction administration, inspections, enforcement actions, and compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations and requirements.
Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in Engineering and three to five years of increasingly responsible, directly related experience or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier.
  • Ability to use independent judgment in problem solving.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret, and analyze engineering plans, specifications, engineering drawings, and related regulations and information.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with construction inspection of City or State projects.
  • Experience with construction inspection of paving, sidewalk, or underground utility projects.
  • Extensive experience with verifying plan quantities.
  • Extensive experience with observation of asphalt paving.
  • Extensive experience with verification of pay estimates.
