Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Leidos. As a key member of our Maritime Systems Division, you will be responsible for leading the design and analysis of mechanical systems related to Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs).
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and analysis of mechanical systems, including vehicle elements, mission payloads, and launch & recovery systems.
- Collaborate with junior mechanical engineers to provide mentorship and leadership.
- Create 3D models of mechanical systems using Solidworks software.
- Perform structural, vibration, shock, thermal, and hydrodynamic analysis of conceptual and detailed designs.
- Present mechanical designs and justify engineering decisions during engineering reviews.
- Work closely with colleagues across other engineering disciplines to ensure complex systems meet customer requirements.
- B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field and 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience.
- Able to obtain Secret clearance or higher.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work.
- Strong, effective, and professional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maritime systems and/or ocean engineering experience.
- Prior experience with unmanned underwater vehicles, operating and control systems, and associated electronics/sensors.
- Experience working with manual machine tools and fabrication equipment.
