Bell & Associates is looking for a Precision Measurement Specialist. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Quality Manager, the Precision Measurement Specialist plays a crucial role in executing accurate dimensional evaluations of components and parts to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality benchmarks. This position entails utilizing an array of precision measurement tools to confirm part accuracy, performing inspections at critical production phases, and aiding in prototype development through thorough measurement and assessment. The Precision Measurement Specialist will also work alongside the Quality team to address measurement inconsistencies and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives aimed at refining measurement methodologies.

  • Conduct Accurate Dimensional Evaluations: Utilize precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to assess parts and components for adherence to design specifications.
  • Ensure Measurement Precision: Calibrate tools meticulously and validate the accuracy of instruments prior to and during inspections.
  • Evaluate Production Components: Perform detailed inspections for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Initial Run (IR) components, ensuring compliance with stringent quality standards.
  • Support Prototype Evaluations: Measure and inspect prototype components to assist engineering development and confirm compliance with design specifications during early production stages.
  • Interpret Technical Documentation: Analyze technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ascertain precise measurement and inspection requirements.
  • Document and Communicate Findings: Record and analyze measurement data, noting any discrepancies and providing clear feedback to production and engineering teams for corrective measures.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance measurement processes, techniques, and accuracy as part of ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams to resolve measurement discrepancies, ensuring conformity to required standards.
  • Conduct Gage R&R Studies: Perform Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies to validate measurement processes, ensuring consistent accuracy across various operators and tools.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree in Quality or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in calibration, instrumentation, or metrology.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications effectively.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various precision measurement instruments.
  • Basic understanding of calibration principles, equipment maintenance, Gage R&R studies, PPAP/IR inspection processes, and prototype part evaluations.
