Assistant Controller Job Description

Vaco is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee the accounting operations of our client's organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting Operations Oversight: Manage the accounting department's daily activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Issue financial statements and reports, providing insights into the organization's financial performance.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure successful completion of tasks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
  • Auditor Liaison: Collaborate with auditors on a quarterly and annual basis to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize strong analytical skills to manipulate large datasets, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Outsourced Function Management: Oversee the management of outsourced accounting functions, ensuring seamless integration with internal processes.
  • Internal Controls: Maintain and enforce internal controls to ensure accurate and reliable financial reporting.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, as well as forecast financial performance.
  • Debt Compliance: Monitor debt levels to ensure compliance with debt covenants.
Requirements:
  • 8+ Years of Accounting Experience: Proven track record of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Supervisory Experience: Previous supervisory experience, with a strong understanding of team management and leadership.
  • Accounting Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • GAAP Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP accounting standards.
  • Accounting Software: Proficient in accounting/ERP software, including NetSuite, Intacct, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics Suite, and QuickBooks.
  • Paperless Environment: Experience working in a paperless environment is strongly preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to change and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Work Ethic: Demonstrated good work ethic and a can-do attitude.
