Job Title: Education Specialist

As an Education Specialist with the Alabama Department of Education, you will play a critical role in shaping the educational landscape of our state. Your primary responsibility will be to create a supportive learning environment that fosters the growth and development of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement effective educational plans for students.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education services and transition plans for students.
  • Instruct students in a program of study that meets state objectives and prepares them to master grade-level standards.
  • Teach citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and policies.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans and supplementary materials that align with curriculum standards.
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepare report cards, and maintain accurate records.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians through conferences and other means to discuss student progress.
  • Supervise and monitor student movement and escort students to resources, bathrooms, buses, cafeteria, room changes, and other activities in the building.
  • Administer standardized testing and model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate.
  • Meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe.
