A Day in the Life of a Business Development and Mergers and Acquisitions Professional

As a Business Development and Mergers and Acquisitions professional at Hubbell, you will play a critical role in driving the company's growth and expansion through strategic partnerships and acquisitions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets and develop comprehensive business cases to support strategic decisions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including management teams of prospective acquisition targets, to drive business development and M&A activities.
  • Lead and coordinate the due diligence process for acquisitions, including financial modeling, market research, and operational assessments.
  • Work closely with the finance team to develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support business development and M&A activities.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with acquisitions and develop strategies to address potential challenges.

Mergers and Acquisitions Diligence

  • Lead the diligence effort for acquisitions, including coordinating with third-party experts and reviewing seller-provided materials.
  • Develop and refine the standard diligence checklist to ensure comprehensive evaluation of acquisition targets.
  • Identify areas of concern and develop strategies to address potential issues.
  • Collaborate with the tax team to ensure alignment on tax-related matters affecting the acquisition.
  • Work with the segment and strategic business units to develop a finance integration plan.

Mergers and Acquisitions Modeling

  • Develop and maintain a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) model to evaluate the financial implications of acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support business development and M&A activities.
  • Identify and analyze key variables' sensitivity and impact on overall valuation.
  • Develop and present analyses to brief senior management and the board with short notice and multiple iterations.

  • High level of Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and other tools to analyze data.
  • Understanding of manufacturing environments and associated financial reporting metrics.
  • Ability to distill and present detailed business analysis and modeling into a form consumable by senior management.
  • Ability to work independently and meet evolving and short-term deadlines.
