The Senior IBMi Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in managing the IBMi Series servers along with all related systems and components. This position is tasked with ensuring uninterrupted operation to maintain the efficiency and reliability of our systems within the IBMi production environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in installing, managing, and maintaining IBMi systems. The Senior Administrator will be the primary support for the IBMi systems, utilizing their expertise to enhance system performance. While external IBM support is available, the emphasis is on leveraging in-house knowledge to optimize system operations. Responsibilities also include managing our FTP server and implementing PTF patches for compliance and security. Disaster recovery is a critical focus, requiring the Senior Administrator to coordinate failover and failback processes from our disaster recovery site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, manage, and maintain IBMi power systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Apply PTF patches to all instances on a monthly basis.
  • Configure, manage, and test backup and system recovery protocols.
  • Set up, test, and manage failover and failback disaster recovery using Mimix replication.
  • Oversee the configuration and maintenance of GoAnywhere FTP server.
  • Manage and maintain HMS crypto cards.
  • Handle DCM operations, including adding and removing certificates.
  • Collaborate with vendors to manage UPS and generator systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of demonstrated experience in IBM iSeries administration.
  • Experience with IBM Power 9+ hardware.
  • Familiarity with IBM FS9000 storage or similar SAN storage technology is preferred.
  • Experience with IBM Tape library systems.
  • Knowledge of IBM Crypto card systems is preferred.
  • Understanding of iACS configuration and Kerberos authentication is advantageous.
  • Experience with Mimix is required.
  • Familiarity with GoAnywhere or similar FTP applications is preferred.
  • Experience with Turnover lifecycle Management software is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of CL programming or scripting is required.
  • Experience with software such as Sequel/Esend, KeyesMail, Alliance logging, IMS/21 imaging, TAATools, Hawkeye, Progen Plus, GETURI, and DBU is beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks alongside short-term and long-term projects is preferred.
  • Knowledge of security best practices is essential.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position may require some after-hours and weekend work.

Occasional travel may be required.

Work Environment

This position will be primarily remote. Reliable power, internet, and cell phone to be provided by the employee is expected.
