At Barron's Lumber, we are seeking a highly skilled Market Controller to join our team. As a key member of our accounting and finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall accounting and finance functions and related personnel across multiple operating companies within a region.

This is a hybrid role that requires on-site presence at least 3 days a week. As a Market Controller, you will be responsible for:

  • Oversight of local division associates in the Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable areas.
  • Performing personal management duties, including development, training, hiring, terminating, initiating disciplinary actions, and completing performance reviews.
  • Providing financial support to OpCo associates in transacting business, such as sales order entry and inventory processing.
  • Ensuring Company-issued policies and procedures are being applied consistently.
  • Liaising with Regional Controller and other accounting staff at Corporate as needed.
  • Supporting the Division President and leadership teams as needed and in partnership with Regional Controller.
  • Assisting Corporate, Market, and Regional Accounting teams in identifying and implementing best practices.
  • Participating in month-end closes as needed and assigned by Regional Controller.

This includes explaining business results, assisting with research of variations from prior periods, recording journal entries, and performing reconciliations for assigned accounts. You will also be responsible for overseeing the execution of local financial control procedures, assisting with internal and external audits, and managing the overall credit and collection functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of management and leadership experience overseeing daily operations of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and/or credit and collections functions.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Public Company experience preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable working in an evolving, entrepreneurial environment.

  • High level of commitment and flexibility, poise, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a distributed team.
  • Ability to work in the US without sponsorship.

Travel Requirements:

20% travel may be required.
