Petroplan is seeking a highly skilled Senior System Administrator for our Generation Management System (GMS)

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SCADA/GMS or real-time monitoring and control systems, with a strong understanding of GMS systems, power systems, and data historians.

This role involves supporting a 24/7 operational environment dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the community.

The successful candidate will work independently with minimal guidance, applying in-depth knowledge and best practices in system administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay current with dispatch protocols and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reliability and cybersecurity standards.
  • Coordinate and configure data and control communications using protocols such as ICCP, MODBUS, and DNP with various stakeholders.
  • Interface with IT infrastructure to configure systems and troubleshoot issues.
  • Compile and respond to real-time data requests from operational groups.
  • Monitor system conditions and assist with investigations of grid events.
  • Participate in the development, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance of SCADA/GMS devices and applications.
  • Develop and deploy real-time GMS calculations and custom monitoring tools.
  • Monitor system performance, maintain system architecture, and perform updates including security patches.
  • Manage GMS incidents, perform root cause analysis, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Support GMS applications, databases, and system upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and ERCOT Security Critical Infrastructure Protection Standards.
  • Provide advanced support for system backups, restorations, and failovers during all hours.

Requirements:

  • At least nine years of experience in SCADA/GMS or real-time monitoring and control systems.
  • Experience with AspenTech OSI Generation Management System.
  • Knowledge of Aveva OSIsoft PI application.
  • Familiarity with ERCOT ICCP Handbook and protocols.
  • Understanding of NERC CIP guidelines.
  • Experience with patching Windows and Linux environments.
