At Garver, we're seeking a talented Aviation Project Engineer to join our team in Tampa, Florida. As a key member of our Aviation Design Center, you'll be responsible for designing airport projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, hangars, fuel farms, parking areas, terminal buildings, and other airport construction-related projects.

With over six decades of experience in designing aviation projects for more than 250 airport clients, Garver understands the complexities of airport systems. Our Aviation Design Center maintains a diverse, skilled design team dedicated to providing expertise and leadership to assist our clients in meeting current and future needs.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with solid self-initiative, able to work as a member of a multi-disciplined team, and produce complete design phase deliverables, including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, exhibits, technical reports, and narratives. They will also be proficient in design development software packages, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other civil design packages.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing technical deliverables under the guidance of senior engineers, including construction plans, specifications, design reports, permit documents, and cost estimates.
  • Attending and documenting client kick-off and progress review meetings.
  • Coordinating with clients on project requirements and status updates.
  • Coordinating with regulatory agencies to understand local permitting requirements and submit permit documents for review and approval.
  • Performing construction administration duties, including attending and documenting weekly construction meetings, conducting periodic site visits, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting with the development of change order, closeout, and other construction documentation.
  • Performing onsite construction observation and inspection.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program, 0-1 years of related experience, and the ability to pass the FE exam within 6 months of hire. Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as some travel (approximately 10% with occasional overnight), are also required.

Preferred skills include a strong working knowledge and ability to design in CAD programs, including AutoCAD Civil 3D.
