Key Responsibilities: As an Agricultural Risk Underwriter, you will utilize your underwriting expertise to assess rates and risk selection across all agricultural lines of business. This role involves reviewing modifications, making decisions on rejections, cancellations, and non-renewals in alignment with company policies. You will engage with the agency force daily, providing assistance and education, as well as supporting the claims department with inquiries related to agricultural claims settlements. Additionally, you will define, implement, and oversee a client service strategy that aligns with our organizational mission and vision. This position also includes providing in-office support for Ag Marketing Underwriters operating in the field. Your role will be crucial in retaining profitable business through sound underwriting practices and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications:

  • A college degree or equivalent experience combined with a minimum of 5 years in the insurance field is required.
  • A background in agriculture along with experience in underwriting, claims, or insurance is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills are essential, including effective verbal communication and professional writing abilities. A consistently positive, customer-focused attitude is a must.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills are required.
  • Proficiency in computer systems is necessary to quickly adapt to our various platforms.
  • Staying informed about local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance with governmental and company standards is essential.
  • The ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and adjust priorities to meet corporate and business unit objectives is required.
  • Progress in industry education (such as AINS, AFIS, CPCU, etc.) is expected.
  • This position is based in our office.
