Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Information System Technologist to join our team at St. Mary's Health Care. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in medical technology and laboratory information systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain laboratory dictionaries and coordinate changes with various stakeholders, including reference laboratories and healthcare portals.
  • Represent the laboratory at meetings on information technology initiatives and update laboratory staff on relevant information.
  • Perform initial testing for updates to the electronic health record and monitor and resolve charge rejections and billing issues.
  • Assist with updating laboratory IMO Code Changes and monitor and resolve issues with reporting systems to ensure timely faxing of results.
  • Serve as a resource to laboratory staff for department-specific projects or issues and assist with report writing in support of quality initiatives.
  • Maintain clinical competency in one department within the laboratory service and utilize safe, accurate, effective, and professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Biology preferred, or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Information Technology.
  • Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Technician in New York State.
  • Experience with MEDITECH family of electronic health records required, with MEDITECH Expanse preferred.
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems and excellent communication and documentation skills.

This position requires the ability to work in a stressful environment and requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
