Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician III is a critical role within our facilities team, responsible for ensuring the continuous operation and maintenance of our facility systems and equipment. This includes refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, electrical distribution, and safety systems. The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and coordinate with internal and external resources to maintain efficient system operation.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair a wide range of equipment, including ammonia refrigeration systems, Freon packaged refrigeration units, building heating and air conditioning equipment, high and low pressure steam boiler systems, thermal oil process boiler systems, hot water generators, thermal oxidizers, compressed air systems, electrical distribution equipment, building sprinkler systems, and other supporting equipment as directed by management.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Utilities Supervisor, Systems Area Lead, and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensure continuous operation of all facility utility systems and peripheral equipment to support production schedules and facility conditions.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources for maintenance of the facility.
  • Assist in the development of environmental programs required by local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Assist in recordkeeping and training requirements for Process Safety Management/Risk (PSM/RMP) management plans to achieve compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Provide technical analysis and services to provide real-time data on refrigeration and operational equipment status.
  • Take a leadership role on the emergency response team in the event of hazardous chemical releases.
  • Maintain boiler cooling tower chemistry to ensure safe and proper boiler operation.
  • Assure ammonia compressors are operating safely and efficiently to reduce energy consumption.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to maintain good working conditions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing issues.
  • Utilize drawings, technical records, and vendor diagrams to complete Preventative Maintenance documents (PMs) related to machine overhauls and repairs.
  • Handle maintenance emergencies as required.
  • Complete duties in accordance with quality assurance, Good Manufacturing Practices, safety, and other company programs and procedures, and in accordance with government codes and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including wiping and washing equipment and tools, sweeping and mopping floors, and trash removal.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • State of New Jersey licenses for the operation of hazardous refrigeration and high-pressure steam systems are required. A valid driver's license is also required.
  • Knowledge of equipment setup, functions, operating procedures, and preventative maintenance techniques is essential.
  • Basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial utility systems and best practices in maintenance and safety management is required.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures, and HACCP is essential.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements as related to plant and utilities systems' operations, safety, and environmental agencies is required.
  • Knowledge of best available energy management practices and procedures is preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment, is essential.
Shift Schedule

12-hour shift (6:00 pm - 6:00 am)
