Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Application Support Specialist to join our team at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. As an Application Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical applications within the Epic system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Application Manager and other stakeholders to develop, optimize, and maintain clinical applications within the Epic system.
  • Provide assistance with Helpdesk support for assigned Epic applications and collaborate with End Users to provide optimal support for the system.
  • Participate in workflow creation, design, development, and testing of the system, and analyze other technical issues to resolve issues associated with Epic software.
  • Regularly consult with End Users to determine necessary changes needed to maintain system (hardware and software).
  • Work with the Application Manager to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs in regards to the Patient Access project deliverables and timeline.
  • Assist with the training of End Users, collaborating with other trainers by co-facilitating classroom instruction, and assisting with exercises as needed.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to develop, build, integrate, implement, and maintain all Epic applications.
  • Participate in core group meetings with Subject Matter Experts.
  • Test and troubleshoot existing and proposed assigned system(s).
  • Assist with development of role-based training content, independently or with team members, using a variety of software programs, tools, and applications.
  • Assist, when appropriate, in the design, development, and maintenance of instructional materials (such as presentations) including job aids and tip sheets.
  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts to develop the application for the most optimal End User experience.
Requirements
  • Epic certification in all applications in their area and other related areas within 3 months of training/date of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 0-4 years' experience in healthcare or healthcare operations required.
  • Additional years of experience in programming and application support functions may substitute for a portion of the required education; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience working in customer service or a problem-solving environment is preferred.
