Role Summary: We are seeking an Electrical Fault Isolation Engineer to become an integral part of our team. This full-time position is based in an office environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute electromechanical testing protocols on client-designed hardware.
  • Utilize advanced techniques for integrated circuit (IC) fault isolation to diagnose failure mechanisms, employing tools such as schematics, layouts, IC design analysis, TDR, VNA, and various imaging methods.
  • Conduct research to innovate and refine fault isolation methodologies.
  • Perform electrical bench tests and analyze ATE data logs to assist in identifying electrical failures.
  • Engage in physical analysis, including IC de-processing and cross-sectioning, to localize and determine failure mechanisms.
  • Enhance fault analysis techniques and tools to improve efficiency and capabilities.
  • Create detailed, user-friendly standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each employed technique.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in board design and electrical fault isolation methodologies for PCBs, FPCs, and semiconductor devices.
  • Hands-on expertise with electrical fault isolation and defect characterization tools, including TDR, curve tracing, and nano/micro-probing.
  • Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, device physics, and IC/PCB fabrication processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and effectively communicate across various groups.
  • Commitment to SIGMA DESIGN's core values and pass a post-offer background verification.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with integrated electronics fabrication processes and experience in electro-mechanical systems assembly.
  • At least 1 year of experience in analytical and fault analysis techniques, including C-SAM and FIB-SEM.
  • Knowledge of materials relevant to flexible electronic devices, such as photo-patternable polymers and thermal materials.

Work Environment: The position is set in a standard lab and production environment where appropriate safety gear must be worn. Occasional travel may be required to other facilities or clients. Candidates should be prepared for physical demands, including the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
