The Senior Operating Room Clinician serves as a distinguished role model in professional nursing, demonstrating specialized expertise in clinical practice, education, and evidence-based practice. This senior position plays a pivotal role in navigating complex evidence-based practices and process improvements, collaborating with management to foster a culture of excellence in nursing and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the daily operations of the operating room schedule.
  • Managing staffing logistics, including scheduling and leave requests.
  • Supervising vendor management and procurement of supplies and equipment.
  • Processing bi-weekly payroll for staff.
  • Conducting performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with system-wide competencies and responsibilities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of three years of nursing experience with a BS/BSN; a master's degree in nursing is required if the BS degree is not in nursing, or a related master's degree if holding a BSN.
  • The ability to cultivate positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including executives, managers, and patients.
  • Skills to navigate a complex work environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking abilities relevant to patient care.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity for patient handling and care.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • UPMC-approved nursing certification to be obtained within one year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
