Child Care Monitor II

The Child Care Monitor II is responsible for planning and conducting the Before and After School Care program at Broward County Public Schools. This program aims to provide a safe and enriching environment for participants.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement program activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in children.
- Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of participants by maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to ensure a smooth transition between school and after-school care.
- Provide guidance and support to children in areas such as homework completion, social skills, and emotional regulation.
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, behavior, and progress.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in child care and education.
- A standard high school diploma or an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
- A minimum of one (1) year of documented experience and/or training working in a school-based aftercare program.
- Must have completed the BASCC Comprehensive Child Care Components I and II (a certified teacher does not need to attend Component Training).
- In addition, at least ten (10) hours of approved BASCC Child Care training is required every year of employment.
- CPR/First Aid certification is required for the position and is maintained.
- Computer skills are required as needed for the position.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience working with children in a school-based setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff members.
The Child Care Monitor II will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The position requires the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a calm and patient demeanor in stressful situations.
