Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Medical Oncology team at St. Marys Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. As an LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified healthcare professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
  • Collect patient data, including vital signs, and report this information accordingly.
  • Prepare and administer injections, perform routine tests, treat wounds, and change bandages.
  • Prepare patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Administer medications within the scope of your license and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response.
  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  • Convey information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Participate in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program.
  • Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • IV Certification within the first 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting.
  • One (1) year Specialty clinic experience.
Work Environment

This position requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism.

Physical Requirements

This role requires ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy is also required.
