Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse Medical Oncology

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Medical Oncology team at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Job Summary:

The LPN will work under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified healthcare professional to provide patient care commensurate to the Scope of Practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in basic nursing processes, health care technology, equipment, and supplies.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
  • Collect patient data, such as vital signs, and report this information accordingly.
  • Prepare and administer injections, perform routine tests, treat wounds, and change bandages.
  • Prepare patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
  • Administer medications within the scope of license and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response.
  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
  • Convey information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Participate in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program required.
  • Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required. If applicable, IV Certification is required within the first 90 days of hire.
  • One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting preferred. One (1) year Specialty clinic experience preferred.

The LPN will work in a fast-paced medical oncology setting, interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
