About the Job

AECOM is seeking a skilled Traffic and ITS Engineer to join our team in the East region. As a key member of our Transportation team, you will be responsible for supporting planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs, and regulations.
  • Reviews or assists in the review of development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, plans, and regulations.
  • Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
  • Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, transportation tax base data, and occupancy rates.
  • Will be responsible for preparing reports and studies and developing plans for various transportation facilities and traffic engineering projects.
  • Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • 0-2 years' experience in the areas of developing traffic and ITS plans and performing traffic analysis internship or work experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training certification.
  • Experience with Synchro and HCS traffic analysis software, MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office is desired.
  • Any prior design experience with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) as it relates to traffic engineering, signal design, ITS design, plan production, project estimates, and specifications is a plus.
  • Applicable course work in Transportation/Traffic Engineering and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are a must.
  • Must be self-motivated with a desire to work on a broad range of transportation projects.
